Mia Balawi

Hi, I’m Mia balawi.

I am so happy you’re here.

I am a registered social worker with a focus on counselling. I specialize in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), as well being a Certified Trauma Professional (CCTP).

In a session, we talk about your past, present, future, behaviours, patterns, and life events, and we talk about them in your own pace in a safe, comfortable, secure, and confidential space.

My goal in counselling is to support your goals and become the best version of you. I commend you for taking the first step in becoming the best version of you. You’re about to embark on a journey of self, and I am honoured to be your guide.

Narrative therapy

We all live a multi-storied life, and through these different layers of stories we gain rich lessons, and develop patterns and behaviours. Through curiosity and reflection, we take a dive into all of your stories about the past, present, and future.

Mia’s modalities and approaches

spiritually integrated psychotherapy

Building a stronger spiritual connection to your belief can be hard. Whether it is to be closer to God, higher force, or within yourself, building awareness of your actions, behaviours, and feelings of self can help with achieving your spiritual goals.

play therapy

When words are hard to use when expressing oneself, perhaps it may be easier to show it in a game. Growth can be fun through the use of books, art, board games, puzzles, whether you’re an adult, teen, or child.

certified clinical trauma professional

If you’ve experienced trauma, or currently going through the motions it can be hard to talk to just anyone. Speaking with a clinical trauma professional can provide you the space and security to say what is on your mind without any judgement. Together we can create a plan of growth.

emotionally focused psychotherapy

Learn how to be in tune with your emotions, and understand their place, intention, and reasons for being apart of our lives. Gaining this awareness of ourselves allows us to understand a deeper meaning of our actions and behaviours.

dialectical behavioural therapy

A form of therapy where it focuses on the needs of your emotions, and learning how to self-regulate and be back in control of self. As the therapist, I assume that you already have all the answers, we find it within you together.
